A small well made shotgun made by Serbu Firearms of Tampa, Flordia. IT holds two rounds plus one, so it is a very useful item. It is registered as an AOW (not an SBS) it only has a $5 tax, but because it is an FA item, it requires the federal paperwork.
Had a chance to get this picture of three Serbu Super Shortys together before they were sold
Cool Serbu logo and info laser etched on the Super Shorty
From the left side with the pump folded
The Super Shorty with the pump pistol grip extended
For an extreme comparison we put down a Remington 870 turkey gun which is quite a bit longer
From the right side with the action open and closed, with the pump pistol grip folded
The Serbu Super Shorty from the right with the pistol grip extended

Serbu Firearms Home of the BFG-50 and SUPER-SHORTY
The SUPER-SHORTY is based on a Mossberg Maverick (also available on Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 at additional cost) 12-gauge shotgun which came from the factory with a pistol grip. Because of this, the SUPER-SHORTY is considered an AOW (Any Other Weapon) and can be transferred with a $5 stamp! The gun holds two 2-3/4" or 3" shells in the magazine, plus one in the chamber. The 16.5" overall length, 6.5" barrel and spring-locked foregrip, which pivots out of the way when not in use, make for a very compact package.
You won't find a better made AOW pump shotgun than the SUPER-SHORTY!

The BFG-50 is constructed using the most modern manufacturing methods and is made from the highest quality MIL-spec alloy steels.
The BFG-50 was designed by Mark Serbu, a degreed mechanical engineer. The design has been thoroughly proven with over 1500 rifles delivered over the past five years.

As far as we know, this is the shortest 12-gauge pump shotgun available. All parts for the SUPER-SHORTY are made in-house on our own CNC machinery using materials ideally suited to the task. All welds are done by the TIG process, and the manganese phosphate finish is MIL-spec. The SUPER-SHORTY is currently being used by various law enforcement agencies and military units worldwide. If you like the idea of concealed carry with a 12-gauge, or like a lot of "bang" in a small package, or just want the most compact breaching weapon available, then this is the gun for you. You won't find a better made AOW pump shotgun than the SUPER-SHORTY!

Go down and ask the local sheriff to sign a paper saying you're cool to have this, pay the taxes to the fed, pay the manufacturer, wait a long time, wait some more, wait another three months and it's yours. Then you do something stupid with it and you're canned for life.

Neat little shotgun, but what good is it? To big for a CCW and to small for HD, what would the shot spread be a 15 or so feet. I'll stick with my Mossberg 500 12 ga 20" Cruiser.

What good is it??
First off, it is designed to be used by police / military for breaching doors (shooting hinges, locks, etc) for quick entry
But in civilian hands it is an effective alternative to carrying a full shotgun while hunting, camping or hiking
Since you own a Mossberg, you know how easy it is to load a pump shotgun, and since this is true of the modified Surbu also, it's low magazine capacity is an easy obstacle to overcome
Aside from 'practical' reasons, it's a very cool and fun to shoot firearm, and there's no reason someone who can afford to own one shouldn't own one for the pure fun of shooting it, letting friends shoot it and having a real conversation piece at the range
